Owning and maintaining a home is a big responsibility, and it can quickly become overwhelming. However, there’s good news–you don’t have to do it alone. Odds & Ends Home Improvement has created unique home improvement service plans specifically designed to help the busy homeowner keep up with essential maintenance tasks.
These plans were created based on input from our customers as well as our own experiences working with homeowners for over a decade. They are not only unique in this area (none of our local competitors offer anything like it), they are also not very common in the home improvement industry. We’re not really sure why this is, because when you stop to think about it, approaching home maintenance in this way makes a whole lot of sense. It not only saves homeowners lots of time and money, it also ensures that essential tasks don’t get neglected.
Here’s four reasons that we think using a home maintenance service plan is the best way to maintain your home.
Keep up with ongoing maintenance tasks
According to the website lifehacker.org, there’s over 30 home maintenance tasks that you should complete at least once a year. The website ArtofManliness.com has over 40 items on a similar list. We’re willing to bet that you couldn’t even name half of them off the top of your head. Sure, you’ll probably remember things like changing your smoke detector batteries and cleaning your gutters. But how about inspecting your crawl space and attic? Or checking your hot water heater? Or how about vacuuming your refrigerator coils (don’t even pretend that this one was on your list)?
Some of the maintenance tasks on this list aren’t critical and will simply help you save a little money (like vacuuming your refrigerator coils). However, more than a few of the items are very important and could literally keep you from losing your house or even your life. For the typical busy homeowner, keeping up with all of these tasks is next to impossible, but with one of our service plans all the essential tasks will be taken care of.
Catch problems before they occur
Many expensive home repairs occur as a result of problems that could have been avoided altogether if they had just been caught sooner. At the very least, the repairs would have been much more minor and less expensive. The most common example of something that would fall into this category is mold or water damage that results from a minor leak. Typically, it takes a long time for a minor leak to cause extensive damage, but if nobody looks for leaks on a routine basis, the damage will inevitably occur. That’s why our standard and deluxe service plans include annual inspections of your entire house to check for problems.
Get priority service and discounts
Do you ever have a relatively minor problem that is a pain in the neck to take care of yourself, but that you would have trouble finding a professional who would come all the way out to your house to help you with? Changing a hard-to-reach light bulb would be a good example of this. Most handyman companies are not going to jump at the chance to come out and replace your light bulb because it is not profitable work for them. If they will even do it at all, it will only be after they take care of all their other projects.
This is not the case for customers on a home maintenance service plan. If you sign up for a service plan, we will not only gladly come out to take care of your minor problems, we will actually give you priority over customers who are not on our service plans. Not only that, but if the problem is related to something that is not covered by your service plan, we’ll give you a discount of up to %15 off our regular rate.
Have a long-term relationship with a home improvement professional
People recognize that in many areas of life, it makes a lot of sense to form long-term partnerships with a professional. For example, you wouldn’t change accountants or financial planners every year. You wouldn’t go to a different doctor every time you got sick. And you wouldn’t use a different personal trainer every time you wanted to get in shape. There’s a good reason for this–when you have a long-term relationship with someone who gets to know you, they’ll be in a much better position to help you.
The same is true of home improvement professionals. If you hire one person to come paint your house one month, and then hire a different person to come fix a leaky faucet the next month, those people are not going to have a vested interest in the long-term maintenance of your property. However, when someone signs up for one of our service plans, we see that as the beginning of a long-term partnership. We do everything we can to make sure their home is well maintained, because we know that if we do that we’ll have a customer for life. Isn’t that what you would want from a home improvement professional?
As you can see, it just makes a lot of sense as a homeowner to sign up for a home maintenance service plan. Check out our three service plans right now and decide which one is right for you, or contact us about creating a custom plan just for you.
